It is generally recommended that children be at least 3 years old before having their faces painted professionally. Many professional face painters and manufacturers of face paints advise against painting children under 3 due to safety concerns and the potential for skin sensitivity.
Here's why:

Younger children may not be able to sit still, increasing the risk of paint getting into their eyes or mouth

Children under 3 have more delicate skin that is more prone to irritation or allergic reactions to cosmetic products
